Arsenal are preparing for the biggest summer in the club’s history, with a transfer kitty already set aside to make drastic changes.
Whilst the future of Arsene Wenger is in doubt, the Gunners will take no chances in the transfer market and are willing to spend big to see results on the pitch.
And according to Robert Pires, the summer shopping list is topped by Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, who has caused quite a stir across Europe this season.
The 19-year-old has already had a reported £100m price tag slapped on his chest to ward off interest, but it seems Arsenal are taking the deal seriously.
During an interview with Bwin, Pires, who trains with Arsenal regularly and has a great relationship with Wenger, stated that North London will be Mbappe’s next destination.
I do think Arsenal will sign him, the problem is how much. Mbappe has the potential to play for Arsenal and Wenger is the right manager to manage him.
Monaco and Arsenal are very similar clubs, so it won’t be much of a transition. He’s not ready to be compared to Thierry Henry. Mbappe is a very similar player but to compare the two players would be unfair.
So it’s interesting words from a man that wants the best for Arsenal, and I think it’s strange how confidently he speaks about Mbappe signing.
Whether he knows something we don’t is one matter of the story, but what stands out for me is how he hasn’t ruled out us going for a player of that price.
Regardless of Wenger being here or not, Arsenal’s boardroom need to do something that will get the fans back on their side and this could be it!
