Arsene Wenger looks to be keeping his outgoings as simple as possible on deadline day.
Arsenal have already waved goodbye to Serge Gnabry and Jack Wilshere today, but news is now filtering through that Yaya Sanogo was refused a move away from the Gunners.
According to reports from The Sun, Leeds United came knocking on the door for the French international after Arsenal announced the signing of striker Lucas Perez.
Gary Monk is keen to add to his squad even further and felt an approach for the out-of-favour forward would be accepted considering his current situation.
With Danny Welbeck fit in January, Sanogo looks set to become Arsenal’s seventh choice striker as competition heats up for that sole striker role.
Whilst the news that clubs have asked for his services isn’t much of a surprise, the decision to keep hold of Sanogo is a bold one but Arsenal fans should be patient.
The Gunners now have to manage themselves through a pile-up of fixtures between now and the festive period, and if progress in the EFL Cup is on Wenger’s list then you can expect Sanogo to feature.
Earlier on this month when under pressure to deliver an attacking signing, Wenger counted Sanogo as an option, confirming he still see’s something in the Gunners flop.
Don’t be surprised to see Sanogo head out on loan in January when we’re probably not going to need him anymore…
