Arsenal have been handed a positive update on the availability of one of their reported targets, after Wolfsburg’s sporting director confirmed the news we all expected.
The man in question is Ricardo Rodriguez, the left full-back currently representing Switzerland at Euro 2016 alongside recent Gunners signing, Granit Xhaka.
Fresh Arsenal recently reported that Rodriguez had a termination clause in his contract that could be activated if he wanted to force a move away from the German club.
And following the comments from Klaus Allofs, it seems the 23-year-old is ready to quit this summer, with Arsenal heavily linked to getting hold of his services.
Rici has stated that his future is not with us, but we can live with this decision.
Although it was a brief comment whilst talking to Swiss newspaper, Blick, it now confirms that Rodriguez is available and willing to possibly make the move to North London.
The Xhaka links make the transfer a very attractive one for Rodriguez, who has represented his country as first choice full-back since the age of 19.
Arsene Wenger would have to pay the £20.3million release clause to snatch him from Wolfsburg, but if they want to get him off their books the German club could drop their price for a quick sale.
In terms of Rodriguez’s opinion, he’s stated that his future will be decided once he has finished serving his country at the Euro’s, but we’re sure Xhaka will have had some words.
The pair are currently roommates at the championships, and have looked strong during their opening 1-0 victory over Albania which leaves them as strong favourites to push through the group.
