Arsenal Defender Ready To Ask Arsene Wenger For January Transfer

Arsenal defender, Mathieu Debuchy, has insisted that he is already thinking about a move away from the club in the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has started just two Premier League appearances this season, following the surprise emergence of his much younger competitor, Hector Bellerin.

And with the Spaniard in line to start again in tomorrow nights crunch Champions League tie, it seems Debuchy has got himself thinking about whether he should stay.

At 30 years old he is inevitably thinking about making Euro 2016 his last major tournament with France, and hopes of being included in the squad are getting dented with every week he’s not playing for Arsenal.

Bacary Sagna, his international competition at right full-back, is currently racking up appearances at Manchester City and if Debuchy doesn’t find regular playing time soon he could be in trouble.

Whilst speaking to French radio station RMC the former Newcastle man admitted that he needs to discuss things over with manager Arsene Wenger in the next few days.

At the moment, I need game time because the past two games I haven’t been in the France squad.

Everything is clear. I need game time and that’s why I’ll have to discuss it with the coach soon. We will see what offers there are between now and January – if there are any.

In terms of reaction from the Gunners supporters, this isn’t the worst news that could come from our transfer window, with Debuchy failing to show confidence when he is given a chance.

The North London side also have Calum Chambers and the on loan Carl Jenkinson (West Ham) who can fill the void if Bellerin was to pick up a sudden knock.

But a move away from the Emirates isn’t what Wenger will want, and you can see Debuchy picking up plenty of minutes in the FA Cup and Europa League if Arsenal fail to qualify tomorrow night.

We’ll have to wait and see with this one but you can certainly see it happening at the end of the season if not in the next month, as Debuchy turns 31 in July.

For now though he has to be fully focused on trying to win his place back in the side, which is a brilliant and rare problem for many Arsenal supporters to deal with.
