Arsenal Transfer Responsible For England Form, Says Welbeck

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has stated that his England form this season is down to his transfer to the Gunners last summer.

The 24-year-old joined Arsenal for £16m from Manchester United last summer, after new Red Devils boss Louis Van Gaal made it clear he did not see a future for him at Old Trafford.

United’s loss has been Arsenal’s gain though, as Welbeck has settled well into life in North London- with the highlight of his Arsenal career so far being when he scored the deciding goal to knock United out of the FA Cup.

Welbeck has also been in formidable form for England after the World Cup, as he leads the European Championships qualifying charts.

The player stated he believes his improvement in form is down to the confidence shown in him by Arsenal, as he said:

“When you are playing regularly, you feel a lot sharper on the pitch”

“Once you play regularly, it just becomes second nature to do things on the pitch. I feel match-sharp and that is important.”

Welbeck will miss tomorrow’s friendly against Italy due to a minor injury but could return to face Liverpool at the Emirates this weekend.
