Arsenal are being linked with a shock deal for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, according to the Daily Mirror.
Talks between the 20-year-old and the Reds have hit a stalling point, with Sterling said to be chasing an improved wage and Champions League football guarantees.
Arsene Wenger is a long-term fan of the young England international and with Liverpool chasing Arsenal’s own contract rebel, Theo Walcott, a deal could potentially be sprung- although it is still unlikely.
Arsenal, as well as the wrath of Liverpool, must also face off against the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the market for the youngster.
A mega deal may prize Sterling away from the clutches of the Reds but whether he comes to Arsenal is another problem entirely, as the Gunners relationship with Liverpool is still sore after the Luis Suarez saga of 2013.
With Sterling growing up in London, and in better form in chase of a Champions League spot, the 20-year-old may fancy a move to Arsenal.
The two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, where Liverpool need a win to get their European hopes back on track. However, they may be more than the three points and the Champions League football at the end of the season up for grabs- as Sterling’s future may also be a stake in the game.
