Yup, he’s here again on the Stats focus. Mesut Ozil is just tearing defences with his vision. Subliminal. 8.52 match rating (WhoScored). He was probably unlucky not to get at least an assist in this game with this stat:
7 – Mesut Ozil created seven goalscoring chances vs Middlesbrough, more than any other player in the FA Cup this weekend. Probe.

Slowly drifting. That’s his style of football which is why it’s easy to see him disappear in games, but we can’t deny he’s a top draw player. Waves isn’t a bad song either. Ozil had 2 shots in the game with both being on target. A pass accuracy only bettered by Gabriel & Koscielny (92.8 for Mesut, 98.8% Lolo, 93.7 Gabriel). Their both CB’s so we can excuse those. The only player to have more touches on the ball than the German midfielder (116) was Santi Cazorla (128), who himself also had a great game.
He made 3 dribbles in the game weaving and threading 2 through balls (1 accurate), an accurate long ball and 6 crosses, with 4 finding a teammate. Tallying up a total of 97 passes in the game , 17 short of Santi who again was heavily involved in the game.
Then 1 tackle and the 1 interception. The Boro manager was so amazed he needed to gift his son his jersey. Ozil should be loving his football at the moment, he’s in red hot chilli pepper form. Long may it continue.
