Five goals from five different players and a third clean sheet for David Ospina. It was certainly a game to inspire Arsenal fans everywhere. Oliver Giroud scored in the eighth minute thanks to a fantastic assist from Mesut Özil. At half-time Arsenal held on to their 1-0 advantage.
Giroud returned Özil’s favour in the 56th minute and the German put a soft but accurate touch to the ball and to land it in the bottom corner of the net. When Theo Walcott scored in the 64th minute from a Santi Cazorla assist I’m sure we thought it was all over. But we were wrong. There were more delights yet to come our way. A Cazorla penalty in the 75th minute (thanks Brad Guzan for your assist!) made the scoreline 4-0. In the second minute of added time Hector Bellerin hit the ball from outside the box, it deflected off the inside of the post and landed the back of the net. Final score: 5-0!
However, today’s game could have also been about chances missed. In the first half: Walcott’s early deflected shot, Aaron Ramsey’s wide shot, Cazorla’s crossbar ricochet followed swiftly by Özil’s goal taken and scored seconds after Cazorla was ruled offside and finally Ramsey’s shot driven straight into the waiting palms of Guzan; and in the second half: Giroud’s crossbar header that landed on top of the net, Chuba Akpom’s saved header, Nacho Monreal’s deflected on-target shot and Akpom’s saved shot.
“@jbairstow21: Arsenal could be 5-0 up here!! http://t.co/nyyv4ke1CR” don’t be silly jonny. Could be a lot more!

Lovely goalfest for the mighty #arsenal today and that’s even without super sanchez! Villa looking very poor though.
