Arsenal Send Scouts To Run The Rule Over Mexican Centre Back

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a move for Mexico and Espanyol’s Hector Moreno, according to the Daily Mail.  The 26-year-old starred for Mexico in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has been capped 57 times for the national team.

Arsenal scout Brian McDermott was reportedly seen at the Espanyol game against Valencia on Tuesday evening as the former Reading manager casted his eye on a move for the Mexican.

The Mexican has been limited to only five first-team appearances for the Espanyol this season having recovered from a broken leg.

Moreno has been a target for Tottenham, as well as clubs such as Swansea, Everton and Hull in recent seasons. The commanding centre back, has previously worked under Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol and it would seem that if Arsenal are seeking the Mexican’s signature, they will face competition from their bitter North London rivals.

Wenger will be active in the January market after an injury to right back Mathieu Debuchy who dislocated his shoulder in the convincing 3-0 victory over Stoke on Sunday. The French international, will see a specialist in the next 48 hours to establish whether an operation is required, and if so he could miss three more months of the season.

A move for Moreno would make further sense given the fact that he has international experience and has played at the top level.

Will Arsene take a punt for Hector? Fingers crossed.
