Now here’s a name you may have seen pop up on your Arsenal team news in recent weeks. After joining from Charlton, the Nigerian international has taken a path much similar to Carl Jenkinson.
He immediately joined up with the reserves, where he scored on his debut against Blackburn. After impressing so quickly, Ajayi was invited to join first team training by the boss, and was rewarded with a place on the bench against Hull City in the 2-2 draw. Although he played no part, this will do big things for the 21-year-old who could be brought in during FA Cup games to give our centre backs a rest.
He stands at nearly 6ft 4in, so is comfortable in the air whatever the scenario. His discipline is the thing that helps him stand out, after he notched up 18 appearances last season and not being sent off.
Is He Ready?
You have to step back and look at the game I feel, Semi will not just walk into Arsenal against Manchester United and ‘fit in’. Wenger will know all too well about rushing a player, but if he feels he is ready to sit on the bench then it is a very promising sign for Arsenal fans.
If we are already through the Champions League, you may see him used against Dortmund or Galatassary.
