Arsenal have had a fairly quiet January so far, with non-league defender Cohen Bramall the only arrival to date. There’s been very little on the outgoing front too – so there’s plenty still to happen in the second half of this month.
The Gunners are in decent form, but the squad has still come up short when stretched and in February and March, the team will truly be put to the test with a series of really tough fixtures. I think the squad needs some tweaking in order to be competitive on all fronts.
Here are four transfers that Arsenal should complete this month.
1 – Sead KolaÅ¡inac
The Schalke defender looks set to leave the German club with reports suggesting he will not extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season. Juventus are also keen on the left back, but according to reports in Italy the Gunners have also ‘made a proposal’. The German side are refusing to let the player leave in January, but Arsenal can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the player as he has less than 6 months remaining on his current deal. Kieran Gibbs is continuing to play a bit part role at the club, and I can see this being his last season as a Gunner before he moves on to become a regular elsehere. Nacho Monreal, previously Mr. Consistent, has been anything but this season and continues to struggle. The Gunners need a new first choice left back and young Kolasinac looks the right profile of player to come in and improve the squad Monreal can stick around as a good rotation option and as a experienced figure in the dressing room.
