Arsenal could be ready to do some serious business in January, with a long-term midfield target seemingly ready to move away from La Liga and perhaps to the Emirates.
Arsenal have been interested in Stephen N’Zonzi since his days at Blackburn and then Stoke City. But since moving to Sevilla, the French midfielder has taken his career to the next level and really become one of the best holding, strong midfielders in Europe. He’d be a great addition to the Arsenal squad which is so often accused of missing strength in midfield.
The player is now open to a move away from Sevilla after falling out with management. Despite being a key player for the Spanish club last season, it seems his future now lies outside of Spain and Arsene Wenger will be on alert, with the futures of Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin up in the air, whilst Granit Xhaka is struggling to find his best form in the 3-5-2-1 formation.
N’Zonzi has been in London recently and that caused many to speculate that he may be on his way to Arsenal, but these rumours have been quashed with the real reason for travelling was for personal reasons, and Sevilla had approved the visit.
But that doesn’t stop the fact that he is available, Arsene is a fan, and Arsenal could benefit from signing a player of his ilk. But should N’Zonzi arrive, someone needs to be shifted and Coquelin could be that man, with the French midfielder struggling to get minutes in the Premier League, despite Xhaka struggling.
N’Zonzi does have a £35million release clause, but with his current situation in mind, speculation suggest he could be available for close to £25million – something that would represent great value for a player of his quality.
