1. We are out of the title race
Even before the game at Swansea, to say Arsenal were still title contenders would have been a bit of a push. Had the Gunners won, they would have gone in to the international break 9 points behind the league leaders Chelsea. At that stage, with 27 games left in the season, it wouldn’t be impossible for Arsenal to make up ground in the title race. It’s entirely plausible that Chelsea might lose three of their next 27 games. What’s implausible is Arsenal now being able to take make up a 12-point gap. Chelsea don’t look like a team who are going to have too many blips this season, whilst Arsenal don’t look like a team at all. There are a lot of issues at the club that need taking care of, and many of those aren’t possible to fix until the January transfer window. This season will result in another down to the wire battle for 4th place.
