So it looks like Arsenal have finally changed their tune on the situation regarding Alexis Sanchez, with the club now seemingly willing to let the Chilean leave the club with just two days left of the transfer window.
With the forward not willing to commit his future to the club, Arsenal now look likely to do a deal with Manchester City for the player, but they may well ask for a player in return. It looks like a trade deal could be on, with several reports now linking the Gunners with City players. In this article we look at the three that have been mentioned, and analyse what deal might be best.
1 – Raheem Sterling
This is the player most widely linked with Arsenal, and he has been a former transfer target before, so a deal is more than possible. City are said to view Sterling as surplus to requirements after adding Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane recently, whilst the arrival of Alexis would only limit the Englishman’s game time further. Sterling has started the season well with two key goals for City handing them a vital 4 points. The news of a potential swap deal broke this morning with The Mirror suggesting that Arsenal had received an offer of £20million plus Sterling for Alexis, though Sky Sports are now suggesting that the Gunners are the club offering the cash on top of the swap deal. Of course Alexis is the better player, but Sterling is 6 years younger, English and has much longer left on his current contract, which may well explain why Arsenal are willing to part with such a big package in order to land Sterling, who Wenger has always been a big fan of.
