2. Sven Bender
Over the last few weeks we have been linked with 3 different central defensive midfielders in Schneiderlin, Khedira and Sven Bender. The Sami Khedira rumours have died down now after his agent coming out saying there has been no contact with any clubs, however it is clear that the two other defensive midfielders have caught Arsene Wenger’s eye.
The German international has come out saying that he would be very interested in a move to England and especially Arsenal. Out of the 3 players, Sven Bender could be the cheapest as Dortmund may sell if an offer of around £15 million is made.
Sven Bender can also fill in at centre back which could be very useful if Vermaelen leaves for Manchester united. The 25 year old has already made over 100 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and has a lot of experience under his belt playing for Germany at nearly every level.
The defensive midfielder would provide great cover for our other midfield players to work their magic and if he does sign for Arsenal it would probably been down to the fact that he will be playing consistently, week in week out, as we don’t have that many quality defensive midfielders in our squad.
