3 – Heurelho Gomes (Goalkeeper)
Standing tall between the sticks, Gomes is no stranger to Arsenal fans having already spent a brief spell down at White Hart Lane a few years ago.
The number one has currently played every game of Watford’s season, and has managed to improve on some of the silly mistakes that saw his exit from Tottenham.
At 34, he’s one of the more experienced goalkeepers in the Premier League and knows exactly how to deal with the firepower Arsenal possess.
Despite him making just 10 appearances for Brazil, Gomes has now retired from international duty and fully focused on playing for a different team in yellow. He could be the next keeper to frustrate Arsenal fans on Saturday.
He loves to leave his line to collect the ball, which can be good and bad at times. For Arsenal however, it means a lot of our play will have to be dominated on the ground.
If Walcott starts we’ll yet again have no aerial threat, meaning Watford can place players in and around the box making it difficult for Arsenal to find a way through.
Gomes prefers to kick long when under pressure, which is good news for Walcott who will have to do less chasing about in the final third.
Watford will be fully focused on playing up the pitch and working off of Troy Deeney, and Gomes will provide that outlet so Arsenal should pick up on that early on.
This will be a tough test for both Arsenal and Gomes, but if we can apply plenty of pressure the goalkeeper is often prone to mistakes, so don’t be surprised to see him crack.
