1. Podolski Leaves Permanently
For many Gunners fans it will pain them to see this man leave the club, but the simple fact is Poldi just doesn’t make the grade with this Arsenal side.
The German international has failed to net a goal in any of his 11 appearances since joining Inter Milan back in January, and those stats won’t have impressed Arsene Wenger, who sent him out to gain confidence after he was sitting on the bench week after week.
And when it comes down to his Arsenal record, things don’t exactly perk up, with just 19 goals in 60 appearances, which means he averages a goal every 3.1 games.
If you look at the players the German has to compete with when he returns in the summer, you would be easily persuaded that he is only facing a losing battle.
Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott are just a few of the viable candidates to fill that left hand side, and would you really start the 29-year-old ahead of any of them?
The winger is also currently receiving a reported £75,000 a week at Arsenal, money that could be easily funded into capturing a player that we actually need.
As lovely as it is to have a player like Podolski at the club, it doesn’t put results on the table, and that ultimately is what it has to come down to.
It would do both the club and the player good to wave goodbye to one another, which is hard because we all know how much this Arsenal family means to him.
