2. Andreas Weimann – Forward
Andreas Weimann, a 23-year old Austrian national, first signed for Aston Villa back in 2010. He went on loan to Watford for a couple of short spells but was eventually recalled due to Villa’s mounting injury concerns at the time (this sounds all quite familiar vis-a-vis Francis Arsenal’s Francis Coquelin doesn’t it?). Since his reserve days in 2012 Weimann has become a firm favourite with Villa fans. During the 2012/13 Premier League season he scored seven goals and had two assists then in 2013/14 he scored five goals and had four assists. This season his tally stands at three goals and two assists. You may say that three goals isn’t much to write home about but for a team that has collectively only managed to see eleven goals slide home it makes it sound more impressive. In fact, between Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor, they’ve scored over 50% of Villa’s goals during the 2014/15 season between them. Weimann possesses an 81% pass accuracy and is a particular threat on counter attacks, an area where Arsenal are sometimes caught out. Click the page numbers below to see the rest of the article.
