3 – Kostas Manolas
The opposite to Mustafi in terms of media coverage – Manolas is regarded as the club’s main transfer target according to the papers. The Greek international nearly joined Arsenal previously, but it was Roma who were willing to pay the asking price put on his head by Olympiacos. Manolas’ attributes appear to make him a suitable partner for Laurent Koscielny. Manolas is strong, tall and a natural leader. Despite Koscielny being a top defender, he lacks all of those attributes and it would be advantageous for him to be partnered with a player that excels in those areas. Manolas is not yet perfect though, he too is still capable of making errors, but is already one of the best centre-backs in Italy and only 24 years of age.
