As Fresh Arsenal reported just 15 days ago, the Gunners will soon be welcoming Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze to North London.

The Nigerian pair first attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs following their standout performances at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Working as a versatile attacking midfielder, Nwakali scooped the Golden Ball trophy after picking up a number of man of the match displays that helped his country in winning the tournament.

His teammate Chukwueze, a year younger at 16 is also on the rise and despite playing as a right-winger managed to win the Bronze Boot award after scoring three goals and assisting just as many.

And following his press conference ahead of this weekends action, Arsene Wenger confirmed that the deals for both are set to be finalised as soon as work permit issues are straightened out.

Talks are progressing well. There are work permit issues, there are medical issues, because they have to make medicals. It’s progressing well.

We identified Nwakali as the player of the tournament basically, and as a top player.

We will see if we can manage to get it over the line during this transfer period. If we can, we will do it, Chukwueze is signing as well.

The pair would be a massive addition to an already thriving youth academy, and Arsene Wenger has done well to tempt them away from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

It seems as if the pair will be the only signatures coming through this month now, after the boss hinted there was no need to bring any more names in just yet.

Instead, he’ll look forward to having some of his injured stars return to action, with Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin and Thomas Rosicky all in contention to start this weekend.
