Tonight was an important game for both Arsenal and Southampton. It was a chance for Arsenal to move up a place to sixth spot and, for the first time this season, beat a team placed above them in the league; ignoring the fact that Arsenal are always top of the league before the first game of the season has kicked off if only because the teams are placed alphabetically.
Southampton, remain in third place, despite their 1-0 loss but had hoped for a win, or at least a draw, after recently losing their initial form when the season began. That sounds a bit like Arsenal doesn’t it?
Anyway, there was plenty of fun to be had before the game had even kicked off tonight. Starting with THAT referee, Andre Marriner:
