Times are changing at Arsenal but as we look ahead to the new season, the club will be faced with one familiar task – whether or not to sell their star players.

Alexis Sanchez has been the topic of conversation on all of the back pages for 90% of the newspaper’s back pages this summer, and the latest report might unsettle some fans.

According to the reliably informed Matt Law from The Telegraph, Manchester City will make an offer within the region of £60million for the Chilean superstar.

Pep Guardiola is desperate to get his hands on the 28-year-old, a signing that would round off a summer spending spree that could hit a total of £300million and surely put City as favourites for the Premier League title.

Despite Arsene Wenger repeating the same message over and over again that Alexis IS NOT for sale this summer, it seems as though City want to test his resolve with a respectable offer.

Fresh Arsenal understand that Alexis is not willing to sign an extension but will happily see out his contract for one final season as a Gunner, allowing him to start personal negotiations with other clubs in January.

However, City want to make an attempt to get the man that’s topped their shopping list for over a year, and believe the latest Neymar deal writes PSG off completely.

Bayern Munich have ruled out a move as Alexis is too old, whilst Chelsea, PSG and Juventus have also backed out of the race, allowing City a free shot at Arsenal’s top goalscorer from last season.

The Alexis scenario has had a lot of fans divided over the summer, with many feeling Arsenal should cash in on him now rather than lose him on a free to a rival next summer.

Wenger is hanging his hopes on a positive start to the season which could tempt Alexis to sign, but that’s too much of a risky game and I think we’ll be waving goodbye to him next June.

Do I think Alexis will stay this season? Yes! I also think he’ll work to the best of his ability as a professional, but that will only act as an audition to some of Europe’s top clubs.
