Arsenal could sign a midfielder from Paris-Saint Germain, according to reports emerging from Italy today.
An ‘Exclusive’ from TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Arsenal have ‘already made contact’ with Lucas Moura, and they also mention the French clubs interest in Alexis Sanchez.
In terms of whether or not Alexis would join PSG, it is perhaps them Bayern Munich or Juventus if he is to move from England. Alexis has already been at Barcelona, it’s unlikely he will want to return to Spain. But I think the Chilean would like to stay at Arsenal, where he is the main man. Arsenal just need to give him the right guarantees and he will sign on the dotted line.
Moura has been a regular in the PSG side this season, predominantly playing from the right wing, although he can also play on the left. In 19 Ligue 1 games this season he has scored 6 and assisted 2.
I’m not sure Moura is yet to live up to his €45million price tag, the amount he cost PSG 3 years ago. But I think it is very unlikely that they would want to sell for any less than what they paid. He is still a very talented player and one that has enormous value, especially in this market.
As good an addition as Moura would be, swapping him for Alexis would certainly be a downgrade. Let’s hope that should these links be true, the Gunners are looking to make Moura an addition or a replacement for a different player rather than Alexis.
I also think it is unlikely that when PSG already want Alexis, they would sell another wide player without getting the Arsenal man in return in some kind of deal. They clearly want to add more talent in those areas, not remove.
Would you invest £40million+ on a player like Moura?
