Arsenal are set to hold talks with Paulo Dybala’s agent according to a report in Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian report suggests that Arsenal will meet with Dybala’s representatives in the coming weeks, ahead of making a substantial summer bid for him in the summer.

It has been reported that Palermo will sell the player if they received around €40million. There is no confirmation of this, but there is a feeling that Dybala is capable of playing for a club of larger magnitude and that price seems fair for his potential.

Dybala has netted 11 times in 20 games so far this season for Palermo. His performances have caught the eye of several of Europe’s elite clubs but reports now suggest that the Gunners are leading the race.

Dybala is a 5ft 9 and a half Argentinian forward, who is yet to be capped for his country. He is expected to be called up soon following his brilliant form in the Serie A. He’s only 21, but is already being talked about as one of the best strikers in Europe.

Arsene Wenger has previously admitted that he feels the best forwards come from South America, and after Alexis Sanchez’ success in the Premier League, you can see why Wenger would be encouraged to make a bid for Dybala. I don’t think we need a forward but if Wenger chooses to sell both Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski in the summer, then there could be room for another addition.

I haven’t seen more than highlights of Dybala, but he certainly looks and sounds like he has the potential to be a top player. €40million is around £30million, that could represent a good investment if Dybala reaches his potential. He’s only 21, so would have a decent sell-on value even if he does not develop as expected.

The rumours and reports of Arsenal’s interest in Dybala are very believable. I think this could be one to watch and it might have an outside chance of happening this summer.
