The BBC Sport journalist is famous with the Gunners fans for being one of the most reliable sources of information when it comes to Arsenal’s transfer plans.

And although Ornstein is usually popping up on Twitter with good news, he’s been speaking to the mightily popular Arseblog regarding a latest rumour.

According to Sky Sports News HQ, the club are entering the final stages of signing 19-year-old striker, Henry Onyekuru, from Belgian side KAS Eupen.

It looked as if a £6.8million deal was set to be concluded after Arsenal reportedly triggered his release clause, but Ornstein was quick to stamp that out:

The Nigerian striker (link), I’m told, is not a true story. I don’t think that is happening.

I don’t know whether that’s emanated from this club or agents around him but as things stand that is not happening.

On the face of it, there’s good and bad news to this update because as many people have pointed out on Twitter, Onyekuru isn’t a name flashing in lights.

At this stage he’s a prospect and Arsenal fans don’t need ‘the next best thing’, they need ‘the best thing’ and any deal for a centre forward will involve big bucks.

Arsenal have been tipped to swoop in and get Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette now that Atletico Madrid are unable to make any sort of deal with the striker.

Onyekuru has been watched by a whole host of clubs around Europe, including Monaco, Lyon and Everton so it’s not surprising his agent may want to throw out a few lies to bump up his price tag.
