Man Of The Match: Mesut Ozil’s Stats vs. Aston Villa

Where’s Ozil? Probably relaxing knowing he bagged the Man of the Match award as Arsenal thumped Aston Villa on their visit to The Emirates in a 5-0 romp.

The German ace scored a goal but also assisted one, reinstating his claim to be regular in the side. Rating of 9.48 (WhoScored.com)

Originally playing from the left, Mesut Ozil drifted in and around the pitch, but his killer instincts when it mattered helped but the game at ease early on, as he played Olivier Giroud in with a pass only a World Class player can produce. He made created two chances, and also made a couple of crosses. 71 touches of the ball, making 35 passes, with an accuracy 87%. Ozil made the most take-ons (7) than any Arsenal player.

It was then Giroud’s turn to return the favour when Ozil scored his only goal (56′) and shot of the game, an even better finish from his goal against Brighton the previous weekend. This is the kind of performances that warrants his heavy price tag.
