Long-Term Gunner Says He’d Love To Be At Arsenal Next Season

Whilst so much of the talk surrounding Arsenal is who might be leaving this summer, one fan-favourite has revealed he’d love to be at the club next season.

On-loan Wojciech Szczesny has been talking to BT Sport and confirmed he will sort his future once his second season in the Serie A comes to an end.

The Polish shot-stopper will return to the club he graduated as a professional from in the hopes of competing for a place between the sticks next season.

However, the 26-year-old was down to earth when talking about his chances of remaining at Arsenal, with so many big names available in goal.

Petr Cech and David Ospina have both featured as viable first team options, and as long as Ospina is here the chances of Szczesny making the team are minimal.

But what we can tell from his comments is that he misses the club immensely, and if there’s a place that opens up for him to return, would love the chance to pull on the Gunners shirt again:

I’m happy here (at Roma). I feel that I’m growing as a goalkeeper, but for me the time to make a decision will come in the summer.

For now I’m an Arsenal player, so as soon as my loan finishes I have to come back and I’ve always said I’d love to be back there.

But what will happen definitely won’t be decided now, but in a month or two months’ time.

Szczesny would certainly have his work cut out back at the Emirates with the expectations so high these days, especially after such a torrid season.

But the goalkeeper has taken his chances well over at Roma and currently has 14 clean sheets from 36 games, having only conceded 33 all season.

He’s also a massive favourite of the Arsenal supporters who are desperate to see a bit more personality in the squad, as well as someone that cares for the badge.

On another note, Ospina is likely to move away from North London this summer and financially it would benefit the Gunners to keep hold of Szczesny as a number two until Cech leaves.
