The Gunners have reportedly had a bid of £48million accepted by Real Madrid which is the latest twist in what seems to be the longest running transfer saga Arsenal fans have seen.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll take one look at the headline of this story and automatically roll your eyes in disbelief, after a lull in transfer activity has forced media outlets to produce unrealistic transfer content.

However, during in an interview with TalkSport, Marsh confirmed that his close and personal friend had given him an exclusive call to confirm a bid had been accepted by Rafa Benitez’s side.

The friend in question will remain unnamed according to the specialist football journalist, but he insisted that this man has never got it wrong when it comes to transfer business,

I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things.

He said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.

In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Usually it would be the same old stories with Benzema, having been the only thing Arsenal fans can think about ever since the signing of Petr Cech, Arsene Wenger’s only summer recruit.

The French international has been the pinnacle of media speculation surrounding Arsenal’s transfer activity, after a poor start to the Premier League urged fans to speak their minds yet again.

But now this fresh information from Marsh’s friend provides a glimmer for what remains of hope in the Arsenal community, who are in desperate need for a fresh face.

Arsenal have also been linked with a deal for Edinson Cavani and it seems these are the only two realistic options following the reports that Fernando Llorente has agreed terms with Sevilla.

More fuel was added to the fire on Wednesday night when journalist, Jan Aage Fjortoft tweeted about potential talks:
