4 – Kostas Manolas
I’m far from an expert on the Olympiacos centre-back, but numerous journalists have suggested he is the defender we’re closest to signing.
I’d really like to see one more defensive addition this summer, and Manolas seems like a worthwhile pursuit. Young, cheap and full of potential – Kostas would provide ample back-up to Mertesacker and Koscielny for our 2014/15 campaign. The 23-year-old is far from the finished article, but he has plenty of time to improve before Per and Laurent hang up their boots.
He is likely to cost £8-£12 million, and early signs suggest he is eager to join up with the rest of our squad as soon as possible.
