It looks as if Roy Hodgson’s decision has just been made slightly easier, following the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a serious injury setback.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that the 22-year-old is set to miss another 6-8 weeks of action following an injury sustained during the final stages of his recovery.

The Arsenal boss admitted that there was no chance of making it to the Euro’s for Chamberlain, who is now expected to return to full training in the beginning of July.

That news has confirmed the England international won’t be featuring for his country in this summer’s European Championships, but he could have a mate to stay at home with.

The England manager now has to make a serious decision on whether or not to take the out of form Theo Walcott to France when he announces his full squad on May 12th.

Walcott has had his appearances cut down following a poor string of games, and has since been benched for the young legs of Alex Iwobi who is making a mockery of the winger.

The former Southampton man has started just 22 games this season, and following 19 substitute appearances has only managed to net nine goals with just five in the Premier League.

At 26 years old it’s difficult to see what he brings to the Gunners, and without a steady run of minutes behind him it’s difficult for Hodgson to justify a reason to take him on the plane.

If that is the case, then both Walcott and The Ox have uncertain futures at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsene Wenger reportedly ready to hold a mass overhaul in the transfer market.

Southampton have already been lined up as possible suitors to welcome Chamberlain back, after the winger grew up through their academy as a promising right-wing midfielder.

As for Walcott, a string of clubs are ready to pounce on the availability, and with three years still on his contract there’s every chance of Wenger cashing in while he can.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Southampton have been linked with the winger as they look to step on in the 2016/17 season, and Walcott can offer pace and experience.

Any deal that see’s either one of the wingers wave goodbye to the Gunners will suggest Wenger already has someone lined up to fill their boots, with Riyad Mahrez a massive target this summer.
