Done Deals! Arsenal To Announce Two More Signings Next Week

Arsenal are set to announce two more signings next week, after David Opsina and Callum Chambers agreed moves to Arsenal. Ospina will join for £3.2million, and Chambers looks set to join for a fee of £16million.

The BBC reported on Friday evening:

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Southampton defender Calum Chambers for a fee of about £16m.

The England Under-19 international underwent a medical on Friday.

The Gunners have already signed Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, and Arsenal Wenger looks like he is ready to make Arsenal title challengers again with his signings. Debuchy will now compete with Chambers for the first choice right-back position at the Emirates, with Chambers seen as the Gunners long-term right-back at just 19. Chambers is rare in that he is a talented English right-back for one, and also the fact that he can cover at centre back.

The Southampton chairman, Koeman told BBC yesterday:

“These are all rumours,” stated Koeman. “Calum didn’t train yesterday and that is why he didn’t play [against Bournemouth].

“The transfer window is running and running and we have to see how it goes. We are Southampton, we are not Man City, but we are rebuilding the team a little now. We will be okay.

It is thought Serge Gnabry and Carl Jenkinson could join Southampton on loan as part of the deal – something that could be viewed as another positive for the Gunners, as Gnabry would likely be getting substantial game time with a club that players good football and in the Premier League.
