Ajax coach Ronald de Boer seems pretty unhappy with Arsenal loanee Yaya Sanogo, doubting his overall quality and what he can offer to the Dutch club.
His brother and manager at Ajax, Frank seems to disagree, but Ronald stands firm with his approach:
“I heard Frank say last week that this is one of the best squads with whom he has ever worked,” he wrote inVoetbal International.
“However, when I see Sanogo, I still have my doubts. I have still found no qualities with which you can do something.
So far, Sanogo has proved Ronald wrong – scoring a hat trick in a pre-season friendly for his new Dutch club. He played 27 off the bench against AZ Alkmaar in his first competitive outing for his new club.
The jury is out on Sanogo and there is no doubt that he has his critics, but at 22 and following a torrid time with injuries, Sanogo will be keen to make the most of his opportunity at Ajax – and he will have to if he is to ever return to the Gunners first team set-up.
Personally I think he needs to avoid injuries and get a few goals, then we might see a decent player emerge from the lanky forward. I won’t get my hopes up, though.
