The 17-year-old originally attracted attention from some of the Premier League’s top sides after winning Player of the Tournament at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup.

Both following heavy attention from Chelsea and completing a short trial at Manchester City, the attacking midfielder has made his intentions clear on his preferred destination.

Whilst talking to the Nigerian media today, Nwakali admitted that although he is grateful for the interest, Arsenal looks to be the best club to suit his playing style.

I would love to play for Arsenal.

They are the Premier League club that I would want to join because they play the best football in the world.

As well as appreciating the famous roots that this football club possesses, this is a player who has proved himself whilst growing up in a challenging background.

The youngster has already lead his country, Nigeria, to victory earlier this year and is now targeting the possibility of making a permenant move to England’s top division.

Playing predominantly as an attacking midfielder through the middle of the pitch, Nwakali is an all-round footballer who puts the effort in.

And although he may still be a teenager, his experience is already greater than a lot of the Gunners academy players, so he can definitely add something to the youth setup here.

Arsene Wenger will have his wits about him, he very rarely is a fan of flattery but with other top clubs in the race for the youngster, it might be enough to approach Nwakali for a contract.
