Chelsea Manager Mourinho: ‘I Can’t Stop Cech From Joining Arsenal’

Jose Mourinho has reportedly told TalkSport that he ‘can’t stop Cech from joining Arsenal’ this summer.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly very interested in the goalkeeper and this news will come as a huge boost to the clubs pursuit of the player.

Whilst coy on his interest in public, it is thought Wenger had made signing Cech a priority for this summers transfer window.

Cech turns 33 this week, but still has plenty of years left to impress at the highest level. It is thought he is happy in London and wants to continue playing Champions League football, making The Emirates an ideal destination.

Chelsea boss Mourinho, in an interview with talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Breakfast show, said: “If it’s in my hands he would never go, would never go to big clubs with fantastic teams. Big candidates to win the Premier League. I would never let him go.

“He is a fantastic keeper, fantastic dressing room and squad man. I tried to prove the respect I have for him. I played him in the cups, gave him matches in the Premier League.

“I can imagine that a 32 or 33 year old keeper feels young and feels the passion to play every game.”

There is no doubt that Cech would add enormous quality to our squad on and off the pitch. He is an experienced world class goalkeeper who has won the Champions League and Premier League.

David Ospina has performed adequately but many fans feel the club still lack a keeper capable of winning the Premier League title. Woijech Szczesny’s future hangs in the balance and it is thought he will leave the club if Cech does arrive.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can beat the likes of PSG to Cech’s signature, as he is one of very few world class goalkeepers that may be on the market this summer. Wenger will hope the lure of London will help Cech choose Arsenal as his next club.
