The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the Gunners throughout the year and is now set to link up with his new teammates during our pre-season tour to Australia.

Primarily playing as a left-back, the Bosnian international has featured in several different positions since graduating from the Schalke academy.

His versatility is one of his best and biggest assets and will now allow Wenger to utilise him in this new formation, most likely out in the left-wing-back role.

Arsenal revealed that Kolasinac will join on a “long-term contract” which is expected to be about five years, earning within the region of £120,000-per-week.

It’s definitely an investment signing from Wenger, who is now looking to reshape this squad to cut out the majority of the deadwood in time for the new season.

Kolasinac was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season and has impressed several other European clubs after deciding to run down his current contract.

However, Arsenal managed to tempt him to North London with the promise of regular first team football and a project of going after big trophies.

With Kolasinac now announced, it puts more focus on the future of Kieran Gibbs, who has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in a £15m deal.
