Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will be an Arsenal player next season, regardless of whether he signs a contract extension or not.
In an interview with Standard Sport, the Gunners boss revealed he would rather let his star asset go for free than cash in on him this summer.
On top of that, the Frenchman assured supporters he wouldn’t dream of letting Alexis go to a Premier League rival, no matter what the transfer fee.
It’s believed Arsenal are in a better position to ensure their biggest players don’t walk out of the exit door, and have reportedly offered Alexis a new £300,o00 a week contract.
If true, that deal would make the Chilean the Premier League’s highest ever paid player, something many feel is justified given his goal-scoring record.
Also included in the interview was comments from Wenger saying Alexis will definitely sign an extension, and it was only a matter of contract details.

The disagreements are more purely contractural. Both parties have the desire to find an agreement, I think it will happen.
If he doesn’t sign a new deal, will I make him stay? Yes. Would I rather keep him than sell him to a Premier League rival? Yes.
