Arsenal Youngster Earns Late Call-Up To England National Team

Arsenal youngster Calum Chambers has been called up to the England national team after John Stones was removed due to injury.

Chambers picked up his first cap last month, and has now been called up for the second squad in a row. The 19 year old defender has had a brilliant start to the season since his £15million move to Arsenal. He’s become a regular for the London side and now looks set to become a regular in the England squad.

Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also in the England squad for the international break. With Theo Walcott on the edge of a return to fitness, Arsenal are building an elite group of English players that will certainly help the Three Lions in European qualification.

Arsenal fans will struggle to remember a bad performance from Chambers in an Arsenal shirt. Whilst he is at times, a bit rash in the tackle – he plays with maturity beyond his years. Capable of playing at either centre or right back, he will be a very useful edition to both club and country for years to come. On the evidence of his first six weeks at the club – £15million seems a real bargain for Chambers.
