Despite a shaky start, the Gunners successfully got past Cologne in the Europa League less than a week ago and Arsene Wenger will be hopeful of a similar display in the League Cup.

His Arsenal side has enough depth to rotate in almost every position with a like-for-like player, meaning players like Jack Wilshere and Rob Holding can audition for a regular spot in the first team.

Having come off of the back of an uplifting 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Wenger is expected to make a series of changes to his starting XI, with some key names ready to feature.

The nature of this tie and Doncaster’s League One level of experience means we’re hopeful of seeing some younger talents in Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson.

Team News

With no first-team members coming back from injury any time soon, we’re unlikely to see Wenger hand someone 60 minutes of football as they near a full return.

Mesut Ozil missed the weekend’s game with a minor injury and will sit out of this game in order to prepare for West Brom’s visit in the Premier League later this week.

Danny Welbeck will spend the next few days establishing the extent of his groin problem after he was forced off at Stamford Bridge with 73 minutes on the clock.

Francis Coquelin is still working on getting back to full fitness after picking up a hamstring issue earlier this month. Santi Cazorla is still absent with a long-term problem.

Jack Wilshere managed to get half an hour of play against Cologne after starting on the bench, so all signs point to him being named in the starting XI for this one.

Defence: Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, Rob Holding

Wing-Backs: Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Midfield: Jack Wilshere, Mohamed Elneny
