Arsenal Superstar Targeting Ballon D’Or Success

Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil is targeting Ballon D’Or success in the future, after becoming accustomed to life in the Premier League.

The German World Cup winner has struggled to find consistency since his move in 2013 from Real Madrid and missed three months of this season due to injury.

However, Ozil has recovered and returned to be a key-part of the Arsenal side that is pushing for Champions League football and to retain the FA Cup.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Ozil admitted that the Premier League was much more physical to it’s counterparts in Germany and Spain but believes he is now stronger. He said:

“Should I continue to improve myself and stay healthy, I want to get my hands on the Ballon D’Or in the upcoming years,”

“I am convinced that it can work out. I am headed in the right direction.”

“I am a world champion and play at a top club in the Premier League. It’s far more physical here [England] than in Spain or in the Bundesliga. I constantly have bruises, but it only makes me stronger, and physically I feel better than ever before.”

There is no doubt Ozil has the talent to win the Premier League but given the form that rivals Lionel messi and Cristiano Ronaldo show throughout a calendar year, Ozil would have to improve his regular performances.

He also faces competition from developing stars like Paul Pogba, Neymar and Eden Hazard.
