Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed he is aiming to beat team-mate Alexis Sanchez to the honour of the top goalscorer of the Gunners season.

Both players are tied on 13 Premier League goals, with Alexis scoring just one in his last seven whilst Giroud has scored eight during that period.

Speaking to RMC, French international Giroud revealed he is aiming to beat his Chilean team-mate. He said:

“I’m not going to say something silly because it’ll be reported, but why not finish ahead of Alexis?”

“We push each other, we’re on 13 goals, and I would like to score some more to help the team achieve its objectives.”

Giroud’s goals are understandable and given the form of the two, it is incredibly likely that Giroud will be able to top Sanchez come the end of the season.

If he continues this form, he could also provide a late push for the Golden Boot in the league- although that is a bit of a long shot.
