Arsenal have completed the signing of Mesut Özil for a club-record £42.5million fee, the second highest figure in the history of the Premier League, second to the £50million transfer of Fernando Torres from Liverpool to Chelsea. The player has signed a long-term contract and will join up with his teammates after the International break.

The player had a successful medical in Germany under the supervision of an Arsenal doctor today. It is thought the midfielder will earn a weekly wage in the region of £140,000 per-week, becoming Arsenal’s highest paid player.
