That’s what it felt like at the start of the season when Arsene Wenger got his hands on Lucas Perez, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding.

However, it seems despite the Frenchman’s experience, he’s somehow mis-managed one of the fan favourites who will now seek to leave the club this summer.

Lucas was brought in as a last minute signing for £17million, and although we didn’t know much about him the early stages proved to be positive.

But something just hasn’t clicked this season for the Spaniard, who will now push for a move back to his beloved Deportivo less than a year since leaving them, according to La Voz de Galicia.

Knocking home a Champions League hat-trick to take his tally to seven goals in 21 appearances this season clearly wasn’t enough to impress the boss.

Lucas has started just two Premier League games this season and his time is running out to get a clear run of form to show Wenger he’s good enough for this club.

Countless Arsenal supporters have expressed their desire to see the 27-year-old be handed more game time following disappointing showings from Walcott and Iwobi.

But with so many established options in the Gunners attacking ranks, Lucas can’t even squeeze his way into the starting XI and is growin increasingly frustrated.

The forward has had to deal with a couple of injury blows that damaged his chances, and is currently sidelined with a thigh problem that left him out of the FA Cup.
