According to reports in the Sunday People today, the Gunners are ready to re-ignite their interest in Real Madrid midfielder, Isco, who is frustrated with his situation in the current squad.

The 24-year-old has completed 90 minutes on just two occasions in the La Liga this season, and it’s believed he wants a fresh start elsewhere to feature as more of a prominent player.

His desire to leave Madrid, mixed with Arsenal’s injury problems would make him the perfect solution to many Gunners supporters, who are growing tired of their chances to compete.

As we’re talking now, Arsenal will go into Boxing Day nine points off of leaders Chelsea, which isn’t helped by the fact that Santi Cazorla will miss at least another two months of action.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with the Spaniard on several occasions over the last few years and with Isco’s contract running out in 2018 Madrid may be willing to listen to offers.

The same reports suggest that Zinedine Zidane very much see’s Isco in his plans for the future and is urging the versatile midfielder to sign an extension with the lure of trophies being a huge factor.

From what’s being reported, it looks as if Isco is ready to try and get regular football at the highest level, and Champions League action is something Arsenal can offer.

January can’t come soon enough for the Gunners, who have had a miserable start to the festive period following back-to-back losses against Everton and Manchester City.

Signing a player of Isco’s ability would certainly bolster their options in midfield, but they’ll only go after him if the price is right. Then again, he could be the perfect replacement for Cazorla in the coming years so watch this space!
