Arsenal Owned Forward Voted Amongst Worst Serie A Signings

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski, on-loan at Italian outfit Inter Milan, has finished second-place in a poll voting for the worst Serie A signing of the season.

Podolski finished with 36% of the votes, behind only AC Milan striker Alessio Cerci (46%), whilst he was way ahead of third-placed Roma forward Seydou Doumbia (9%).

The damning poll was conducted by Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, one of the most popular newspapers in Italy.

The World Cup winner joined Roberto Mancini’s side in January until the end of the season, whilst the Italian club have an option to activate a permanent deal.

However, things didn’t start brightly for Podolski has Xherdan Shaqiri was preferred in the registration for Europa League football, which left Podolski ineligible for the competition.

On top of this, Podolski’s performances for the San Siro side have failed to inspire and he is expected to return to North London at the end of the season.

Arsenal will then have to find a new suitor for the German striker, with the most likely being his foemr club FC Cologne- where he would return for a third-stint.

Podolski has failed to impress at Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Inter Milan despite earning over 100 appearances for Germany.
