Arsenal ‘On Verge’ Of Midfield Signing But Arsene Wenger Wants More Arrivals

Arsene Wenger has admitted he is in the market to sign ‘at least one’ player this month. Mohammed Elneny is on the verge of joining the club, but who else could be on the way?

“Ideally, I would like first our injuries to come back. After that, I think at least one,” Wenger told Sky Sports.

“We still have players with a lack of experience in midfield like Calum Chambers, Alex Iwobi, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, and Joseph Willock. They can all play.

Wenger has hinted with so much at stake, he will opt to recruit rather than promote youth players in the second half of this season.

“But at the moment, because there is so much at stake, it is very difficult to get the young players to start, but they have the quality” he continued.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the latest name to be linked with a winter move to The Emirates. Whilst a £40million plus move for the Gabon international may appear unlikely, it is extremely likely that any signing (aside from Mohammed Elneny) will be a forward.

With the injury set back served to Danny Welbeck, it is unlikely that the English international will play many games, if any at all this season. Wenger will be well aware that with just Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as central striking options, Arsenal do not have much depth in a critical area of the squad. Let’s see what he has up his sleeve.

Failing to ensure we are well stocked up front may see our title bid fade away in the final stages: let’s not let that happen!
