How Arsenal Should Line-up vs. Chelsea In The Community Shield

During the pre-season tour to Singapore Arsene Wenger’s men looked in fine knick, and judging by their performances if the season started this weekend they’d be more than ready to go.

Physically, virtually every player looked good and the general standard of football was a joy to watch. Of course it is easy to read into pre-season performances and we’ll learn more in the coming weeks, firstly starting with the Emirates Cup, and then the first ‘competitive’ game of the season against Chelsea.

Many people disregard the Community Shield, seeing it as a meaningless friendly, however this years contest could be a whole lot different. There will be a sell-out crowd at Wembley where two genuine rivals, who’ll both be fighting for the title will go head-to-head. The match also marks Petr Cech’s first appearance for Arsenal which of course comes against his former club. This traditional curtain raiser may end up having the feel of an important match, and the victor will have a chance to lay down a statement to the other in what could be a long battle to the end of the season. I’d be shocked if both managers didn’t pick their strongest available line-ups and because of this it should be a fascinating spectacle at the national stadium.

My Predicted Arsenal XI:

Arsenal - Football tactics and formations

The above 11 will probably be our strongest side at the time of the match. Cases can of course be made for Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gabriel to be in the line-up and this shows just how much depth we have in our ranks for the upcoming campaign. Alexis Sanchez is the obvious omission and its likely he won’t return until a couple of weeks into the season. Although this team really hasn’t changed much from last season it appears very strong, and a couple of top class additions could really take us to the highest level.
