Arsenal To Issue Huge Announcement That May Not Sit Well With Gunners Fans

Arsenal are ready to hand Arsene Wenger a huge early Christmas present by offering him a two year contract extension with the Gunners.

That might not be the news many supporters were hoping for following the recent back-to-back Premier League losses that have left the club nine points short of the top of the table.

But it appears the success Wenger has had in the transfer market, mixed with results in the Champions League and form in 2016 has given the board many reassurances.

According to reports across British media that have been collated by The Week, the 67-year-old will be handed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2019, if he is willing to accept the terms to stay on.

Many supporters argue that Wenger has done as much as he can for this club, and without the ruthlessness of the board breathing down his neck he’s not got the pressure to deliver trophies.

However, the Daily Mirror are arguing that Wenger’s intense plans for the future in terms of new signings like Julian Draxler and Jose Gaya have suggested his place isn’t up for grabs.

Personally, I feel as if the decision rests in Wenger’s hands no matter what, and he’ll no when it’s time for him to hang up his coat and move on to retiring from football.

The futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez rest heavily on who will be in charge when their contracts run out in 18 months time so Wenger could well be the key.

I think Arsenal fans will really start to notice how much Wenger does for this club when he eventually leaves, because he certainly isn’t getting the respect he deserves from a certain section of the fanbase.

If he’s going to get those supporters back on side then a perfect festive period is needed, whilst hoping Chelsea can drop points, the Gunners desperately need 9 from their next 3 games.
