Arsenal Could Help Ozil Extend By Signing This Fellow World Cup Winner In January

Arsenal are still trying to extend the contracts of star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez and with Arsene Wenger suggesting that money is not the only way to keep the players happy, perhaps signing quality players, or a players friend would be beneficial to helping them commit their futures.

Now I’m not sure if Ozil is best friends with the player but the news that long-term Arsenal target Julian Draxler will not play for Wolfsburg again will have surely alerted Wenger. The German is a very talented attacking midfielder that can play wide or through the middle of midfield, he has also occasionally be deployed as a striker.

The question is with young wide midfielders like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alex Iwobi at the club, do Arsenal need a young player like Draxler?

Apparently, Draxler was keen to leave the German club and his attitude of late has forced the German club to ban him from playing. That is likely to see Wolfsburg drop their financial demands for a player who in the summer, they said was strictly not for sale.

Standing at 6ft 2’ Draxler offers a unique blend of height, strength, pace and guile. With the right education and development he has the ingredients to become an incredible footballer and should he reach his potential he would be worth well in excess of £50million.

The 23-year-old already has 27 caps for Germany and during his time on international duty, has picked up a World Cup winners medal.

I think Arsenal are crowded in this area and the development of Alex Iwobi has somewhat softened Arsenal’s need for a player of this ilk. But Wenger is a known admirer of the player and should he become available, which it seems he certainly has, then surely the Frenchman would not ignore the availability of such a talented and exciting player.

Surely adding a player like Draxler would help confirm Arsenal’s ambitions to the likes of Ozil even if they are not the closest of friends. But Draxler is part of the same squad as Mustafi, Ozil and previously Podolski and Mertesacker, so I’m sure he’s heard a lot about the club.
