Arsenal Handed A Huge Boost In Their Pursuit of 20+ Goal Striker Target

Although some of us are still suffering an Arsene Wenger related hangover, there was some good news for the Gunners fans to wake up to on Thursday morning.

That’s because they’ve been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of long-term target, Alexandre Lacazette, who reports claim is Wenger’s number one man.

Atletico Madrid were front-runners to sign the 25-year-old this summer, but having had their transfer ban upheld, they are no longer able to buy the striker.

In fact, Atletico are unable to register any new players at all until 2018, which has ideally cleared the pathway for Arsenal to go out and buy a top class player.

Lacazette has registered 20+ goals in each of the last three campaigns whilst playing for Lyon, and has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave the club.

The Ligue 1 side have accepted losing their star man but for the right price, meaning it could cost Arsenal at least £50million to land his services.

Having signed a new two-year contract extension earlier this week, Arsene Wenger has stated he will now only buy “top, top players”.

Lacazette certainly matches that description and Arsenal feel they can improve on last year’s rejected £29.3million offer to get hold of the Frenchman.

With the likes of Lucas Perez and Kieran Gibbs heading for the exit door, it will free up money to supplement his wage demands for not being in the Champions League.

As well as linking up with his national teammates of Giroud, Koscielny and Coquelin, Lacazette would be comfortable playing under the greatest ever French manager.

It’s certainly a deal that will be interesting to watch over the coming months, and if Arsenal are serious about improving, Lacazette can do exactly that!
