Arsenal are eying a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco, according to reports that state the Gunners have scouted the 23-year-old throughout the season. A signing of his calibre would be a major coup for Arsenal and goes hand-in-hand with rumours that have linked Arsenal to attacking players.

However, Arsenal will face stiff competition from Manchester City who are linked with a £32m move for the former Malaga ace- and they will be considered the favourites for his signature due to the player’s links with Manuel Pellegrini, who managed him on the Costa Del Sol.

Arsenal’s quest to sign a defensive-minded midfielder this summer has seen them turn their attentions to Monaco’s French international Geoffrey Kondogbia, as reports from Italy cited in British media claim that the Gunners will rival Inter Milan for his signature.

Kondogbia’s class has been experienced first-hand by Arsenal, who saw the former Sevilla ace put in two brilliant performances in the Champions League, as the French outfit shocked Europe by knocking out Arsenal and advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Arsenal are said to be on-alert with news leaking out that Inter Milan’s 21-year-old midfielder Mateo Kovacic will be available this summer for the bargain price of £18m. Inter are planning an overhaul this summer and the sale of Kovacic would raise funds for Roberto Mancini.

However, Arsenal face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and reports indicate that the Reds have made the first move this afternoon with a £15.2m offer- less than the asking price. Arsenal could hold a trump card in Champions League football.
